Room For The King
Day 1: Making Room for Jesus
Devotional: In Luke 2:1-7, we read about the birth of Jesus in a humble manger because there was no room for Him in the inn. This story is a powerful metaphor for our own lives. Often, we are so busy with our daily routines and responsibilities that we fail to make room for Jesus. The innkeeper had reasons to turn away Mary and Joseph, just as we have reasons to neglect our relationship with Christ. But what if we made a conscious effort to prioritize Jesus in our lives? By clearing out distractions and focusing on our love for Him, we can create space for a deeper connection with our Savior.
Verse: And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. - Luke 2:7
Question: What distractions in your life are preventing you from making room for Jesus?
Prayer: Lord, help me to identify and remove the distractions that keep me from You. Give me the strength to prioritize my relationship with You above all else. Amen.
Day 2: Clearing Out the Rubbish
Devotional: Our lives can become cluttered with 'stuff'—both physical and emotional—that takes up space and leaves little room for Jesus. Just as the Gomez family has too many people and too much stuff in their house, we too can find our lives overcrowded. To make room for Jesus, we need to clear out the rubbish. This might mean letting go of certain habits, commitments, or even relationships that hinder our spiritual growth. It will always cost you something and take work, but the reward is a closer relationship with Christ.
Verse: Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. - Proverbs 3:5
Question: What 'rubbish' in your life do you need to clear out to make more room for Jesus?
Quote: How do you make room is you gotta clear out some of the rubbish.
Prayer: Father, give me the wisdom to recognize the things in my life that are cluttering my relationship with You. Help me to trust in Your guidance as I clear out the rubbish. Amen.
Day 3: Prioritizing Love for God
Devotional: Jesus teaches us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. This commandment is a call to prioritize our love for God above everything else. When we truly love God, it reflects in our actions, decisions, and how we spend our time. By making God the center of our lives, we can ensure that there is always room for Him, no matter how busy we get. This love for God should be evident in the things we delight in and the way we live our lives.
Verse: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. - Mark 12:30
Question: How can you show your love for God in your daily actions and decisions?
Prayer: Dear God, help me to love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. Let my love for You be evident in everything I do. Amen.
Day 4: Seeking God's Guidance
Devotional: In our journey of faith, seeking God's guidance is crucial. The Bible tells us to seek the kingdom of God above all else and live righteously. When we prioritize God's kingdom, He promises to provide everything we need. This means turning to God in prayer, reading His Word, and listening for His voice in our daily lives. By seeking His guidance, we can make decisions that align with His will and draw us closer to Him.
Verse: Seek the kingdom of God above all else and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. - Matthew 6:33
Question: In what areas of your life do you need to seek God's guidance more intentionally?
Prayer: Lord, help me to seek Your kingdom above all else. Guide my decisions and actions so that they align with Your will. Amen.
Day 5: Being Dependable in Faith
Devotional: Every choice we make in life will either push us closer to or further from Jesus. Being dependable in our faith means consistently choosing to follow Christ, even when it's difficult. It means trusting in the Lord with all our heart and not relying on our own understanding. By being steadfast in our faith, we can build a strong foundation that withstands life's challenges and draws us nearer to God.
Verse: Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. - Proverbs 3:5
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to be steadfast in my faith. Give me the strength to trust in You and follow Your path, even when it's difficult. Amen.
