4 Crucial Steps for Your Walk With Jesus

4-Day Devotional: Daily Steps to Deepen Your Walk with Jesus

This week, we are focusing on four critical steps to strengthen our daily walk with Jesus. Each day, we’ll explore one step, reflecting on its importance and how it transforms our relationship with God. These steps are:
  1. A daily time of focused personal communion with God.
  2. Daily appropriation of the Gospel.
  3. Daily commitment to God as a living sacrifice.
  4. A firm belief in the sovereignty and love of God.

Let’s take these steps together, one day at a time.

Day 1: A Daily Time of Focused Personal Communion with God

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” – Matthew 6:33 (NLT)

Our relationship with God grows deeper when we prioritize spending time with Him every day. This is more than a quick prayer or a fleeting thought—it’s intentional, focused communion. Jesus often withdrew to pray and be alone with the Father (Luke 5:16).

This time can include prayer, reading the Word, journaling, or simply sitting quietly in His presence. The key is giving God your undivided attention and inviting Him into your day.

Reflection Questions:
•Do you have a consistent time set aside for God each day?
•What distractions keep you from focusing fully on Him?

Challenge:
Spend at least 15–30 minutes with God today. Turn off distractions, open your Bible, and focus on being in His presence.

Day 2: Daily Appropriation of the Gospel

“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20 (NLT)

The Gospel isn’t just the message of salvation; it’s the foundation we live on every day. To appropriate the Gospel means reminding ourselves of the truths it teaches—that we are forgiven, loved, and empowered by the grace of God.

When the enemy tries to burden us with guilt or doubt, we can stand firm in the Gospel. It reminds us of our identity in Christ and helps us live in freedom (Romans 8:1).

Reflection Questions:
•How does the Gospel shape your daily life?
•Are there areas where you need to apply God’s grace more fully?

Challenge:
Take a moment today to reflect on the Gospel. Write down three truths about who you are in Christ, and thank Him for His love and sacrifice.

Day 3: Daily Commitment to God as a Living Sacrifice

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.” – Romans 12:1 (NLT)

True worship is more than attending church or singing songs; it’s about surrendering our lives to God daily. Being a living sacrifice means choosing to align every part of our lives—our actions, thoughts, and desires—with His will.

This is a daily choice. It’s not always easy, but it’s how we experience transformation and draw closer to Him.

Reflection Questions:
•What areas of your life might God be asking you to surrender to Him?
•How can you practically live as a sacrifice today?

Challenge:
Start your day with a prayer of surrender: “Lord, I give You my life today. Help me to honor You in everything I do.”

Day 4: A Firm Belief in the Sovereignty and Love of God

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” – Romans 8:28 (NLT)

Trusting in God’s sovereignty means believing that He is in control of all things, even when life feels uncertain. His love reassures us that He is always working for our good, even when we don’t understand His plans.

When we embrace His sovereignty and love, we find peace in trials and hope in difficult seasons. It gives us confidence to trust Him with every part of our lives.

Reflection Questions:
•Are there situations where you struggle to trust God’s sovereignty?
•How does God’s love bring you peace during trials?

Challenge:
Thank God today for His sovereignty and love. Reflect on a past situation where you saw His hand at work, even if it wasn’t clear at the time.

Each day, as we practice these steps, we grow closer to Jesus and more rooted in His truth. Let’s commit to these steps this week and encourage one another to live them out!
